Mechanical Engineer
Location: House of BioHealth, Luxembourg
Type: Full time
Responsibilities
Design and optimize mechanical systems for microgravity-compatible scientific instruments
Create CAD models and detailed technical drawings using tools like SolidWorks, Fusion 360, or similar
Work closely with our simulation engineer to ensure your designs meet thermal, structural, and vibration requirements for launch and spaceflight
Integrate mechanical components with fluidics, optics, and electronics in tightly constrained volumes
Support the assembly, testing, and environmental qualification of prototypes and flight units
Interface with suppliers, manufacturers, and aerospace partners (ESA, launch providers, etc.).
Requirements
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field
2–5 years of relevant design experience, ideally with space systems
Skilled in DFM/DFA, tolerancing, and material selection for complex assemblies
Comfortable working with multi-disciplinary teams and balancing performance, manufacturability, and reliability
Experience collaborating with simulation engineers for mechanical verification.
Nice-to-have
Pressure vessel design or verification
Hands-on experience with space payload development or flight hardware
Familiarity with ESA SSP standards and/or ECSS-Q-ST-70/20/08
Exposure to environmental testing (thermal vacuum, vibration, etc.)
Worked in or around cleanroom or lab environments.
